Lamium maculatum
Dead Nettle
Description
This attractive groundcover is grown for its beautiful variegated foliage more than its flowers. It grows 8" tall and 3' wide. Not considered invasive. Leaves are evergreen in mild winter climates, somewhat heart-shaped with white and green colors. Clusters of tiny pink, white or yellow flowers cover the plant in spring. This plant prefers partial to full shade with well draining, moist, acidic soil. Keep roots cool by mulching.

Change spray sprinklers to low-flow bubbler or drip systems. Shrubs and trees are ideal candidates for this type of irrigation because the water is applied directly to the root zones.
